Dances with Wolves: Civil War veteran John Dunbar (Costner) goes to the “outskirts of the universe” - the state of Dakota. At first he seeks solitude and peace, but then he finds friends: first among animals, and then among the Indians, who give him the name “Dances with Wolves.” Love appears - and then there is the need to choose. The fact is that the troops are preparing to push the Indians back to the reservations, and by this time Dunbar no longer wants any other life for himself... He received seven Oscars (including for best film and director) and was nominated for five more statuettes, and was also awarded Berlin's Silver Bear, Dances with Wolves has long been a modern classic. Kevin Costner's directorial debut hit the bull's eye, as they say, reviving the almost forgotten genre of the "smart" Western from the ashes and forcing the viewer to completely surrender to the power of what is happening on the screen. This calm and even at times slow painting amazes with its worldly wisdom, spirituality and strength. The picture is not perfect, but it is precisely the “unkemptness” that gives it the “zest” that makes you believe in what is happening without looking back. Perhaps the journey with John Dunbar will turn out to be one of the most interesting in your life as a spectator. The only “but” is – don’t drive your horses, but tune in to the meditative and contemplative rhythm of Indian life. Then, perhaps, the shamanic secrets of the harmony of man and nature will not seem something surreal, and the hero’s search for his “I” will captivate you completely.
