Retired auto mechanic Walt Kowalski spends his days fixing things around the house, drinking beer and going to the barber once a month. And although his recently deceased wife's last wish was for him to confess, Walt, a bitter Korean War veteran with his rifle always at the ready, has little to confess. And there is no one whom he trusts to the full extent that he trusts his dog Daisy. All those people whom he once called his neighbors have either moved or gone to another world, and they have been replaced by Hmon immigrants, whom he openly despises. Resisting literally everything that his gaze rests on - rickety cornices, overgrown lawns of houses and the faces of foreigners everywhere; aimlessly wandering gangs of teenagers, consisting of Hmons, Latinos and African-Americans, who believe that the surrounding world belongs entirely to them alone; fledgling strangers who turned out to be their own children and grandchildren - Walt is simply slowly living out the rest of his life.
